Zither in Böhmen, Mähren und Schlesien

Jan Folprecht, Ostrava 2010

A long awaited monograph „Zither in Böhmen, Mähren und Schlesien“ by Jan Folprecht was published by the end of September. Basically, it is an extended and updated German translation of the Czech publication „Citery v Čechách, na Moravě a ve Slezsku“ (Zithers in Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia). This work was published by “Moravská expedice” publishing house. The cover was designed by Radek Nogol.

The book provides a lot of surprising (and firstly published) information about the rich history of the zithers in the Czech lands to a foreign reader. If interested, do not hesitate and ask for more information: info@citera.cz.

Viennese native Mag. Wilhelm Neubauer contributed by a great deal to the finishing of the book. He did the final language correction of the text. This cooperation is a result of a long lasting relationship of members of the Ostrava Zither Club (Ostravský citerový klub, OCK) and Wilhelm Neubauer as he, annually, comes to Ostrava, more often than once, where he dedicates his time to both formal and informal consultation and education of young Czech zitherists. He likes to make use of the extensive note archive of the OCK in order to study the early note literature and in return, he provides the missing literature. By means of this cooperation the zitherists both from Ostrava and Vienna may enrich one another’s knowledge from complete works of zither composers such as C. Enslein, A.Huber, J. Fux, etc. For this doing of his, Neubauer was elected an honorary member of the OCK.
